<>The baritone is a part of the low brass section with a B flat range. It is used widely in marching bands and is known for its bright sound. The most common use of a baritone in a band is background bass lines, although there are often baritone solos featured in pieces. Confusion often comes when compared to the euphonium, but one main difference can be seen in the bore (see glossary) size. The baritone's is much smaller, therefore creating a higher sound, while the euphoniums bore is much larger, creating a lower sound.
